Youth Tour Essay Contest
South Central Electric is again sponsoring an all-expense paid trip for an area high school sophomore or junior to Washington D.C. The student will represent South Central Electric in the Minnesota delegation.
The purpose of this contest is to find someone to represent our cooperative and travel with the Minnesota delegation to Washington D.C on the Rural Electric Youth Tour. Each year about 1300 young people representing rural electric cooperatives from all over the nation get together. During the six days in Washington, D.C., the students have the opportunity to learn first hand what it is like to be involved in politics, community development and to discuss some of today’s social issues. They get to visit with congressional leaders and see many of the historical sites in and around the Washington, D.C. area.
