Geothermal Heat Pump Program
Geothermal or ground source heat pumps are among the most efficient heating and cooling systems available. The geothermal heat pump works similar to an air conditioner or air to air heat pump. An air conditioner in the summer uses Freon to collect heat inside the house and takes it outside. The air to air heat pump does the opposite in the winter. The Freon collects heat from the outside air and compresses it until it gets very warm and then sends it inside the house for heat. The geothermal heat pump uses the moderate temperatures of the earth to heat and cool. Many times we see efficiencies from 300% to 400%. The initial cost of installation is considered high but the low yearly operating cost eases the pain.
